How EduPETS Italy was created

Please, let me introduce myself, I'm  Mariadaria Mazzocco, professional translator since 2000, English teacher with a deep strong passion for nature and all its elements.
My job has taught me about understanding human relationships and gather their inner workings. Thanks to my linguistic studies, I could collaborate with many companies both in Italy and abroad.
... However all my life, my great passion is nature and its animals!!! I started horse riding  at 14 years old, love shared with my father, up and down across beautiful landscapes in the Dolomites in our beloved Trentino region, together with our horses Ray and Tom.
In February 2000 my father had a mortal accident, by falling down a tree and nothing was the same, everything changed, so as to stop my symbiosis with the equestrian world.
Maybe it was time to return to origins and release that burden in my mind and heart. I no longer had to feel guilty if dad could not ride with me anymore, if he could not be here close to me and my family, he would have wanted me to go on with my love for nature even without him.
That’s how there was a breakthrough, in 2017 I brought together again the horse world thanks to my niece Matilde who started to approach the western riding.
I always think that it was my dad giving her the right input, to help me and bring me peace, what I really needed to get after those awful hard times.
In 2016 it was also the time for my first Akita Inu dog, her name's Aiko to whom I feel a sort of visceral love, after my dear Sablya, my Samoyed female dog who had a very long life and knew all my family, grandparents included. In 2017 it was the time for Bushi, our second Akita Inu dog, by his infinite goodness.
All seems to make a new sense again, my pets, my life, indeed I really understand the power of their daily presence, animals make a better life.
In 2017 I approached a Pet Therapy association opening the door of  a world that was actually already in my heart, but was not able to appreciate it before, as I was surrounded with blankness.
In that very moment I found my way, I would never live for any fear, guilt or pessimism, anymore.
My first "therapy" was on myself, dogs and horses helped me to overcome a long dark period and accept my father's loss...
Due to my personal experience, I strongly wanted to undertake this new path which started in 2017, by attending the course of "Responsible of Assisted Activities with Animals" (equine and canine sectors). In 2019-2020 I became "Equine Coadjutor" in Animal Assisted Interventions allowing me to start my collaborations with some horse riding centres.
Some of you may ask... but how could it be possible this great deep change, from being translator to expert in Assisted Activities with Animals ?
Actually I see plenty of similarieties: the first job leads me to interpret and encode a foreign language so to spread the original message into our mother-tongue language, the other job is to perceive and interpret the animal "language", by adapting it in different situations and giving well-being to people, always in respect of the animal.
Animals give us a new life, at any time.

Why EduPETS Italy...

Animals help us to become more empathetic.
Animals transform our weaknesses into strengths, our negative side into positive side, our angst into calm, our discomfort into wellness... They help us living life with targets, strengthening us and creating with us special bonds. They know how to interact with us and “read us” and if we treat them with respect, within their timing and spaces, we will be better people thanks to their support.

Our projects are intended for supporting/fostering all situations where animals, especially horses, dogs, donkeys, cats and rabbits, through their essence and collaboration, transform the negative side into positive aspect.

EduPETS Italy creates and updates projects about assisted activities with animals, collaborates with PETS experts, supports and offers consulting services in the assisted activities with animals (A.A.A.).
